The Water Environment Association of Texas is dedicated to promoting the use of sound science in environmental policy and regulation. To support this goal, WEAT monitors activities at state regulatory agencies and the Texas Legislature in order to keep our members informed of developments.

Comments or testimony are presented on behalf of WEAT when appropriate. In addition, WEF’s Government Affairs Committee monitors activities in Congress and important regulatory activity at federal agencies.

HOT UPDATES!

The 81st session of the Texas Legislature begins on January 13, 2009.  Important dates for this session include:

o         November 10, 2008 – Pre-filing of bills begins
o         January 13, 2009 – First day of session
o         March 13, 2009 , - Bill filing deadline
o         June 1, 2009 – Last day of session

WEAT will be monitoring activities at the Texas Legislature and advising members of pending issues.
