Control Systems Supervisor
Position Description

1. Implements and supports control system hardware and software standards.


2. Implements and supports the control systems change management process.


3. Performs PLC application modifications.


4. Performs HMI application modifications and deployments.


5. Implements historical data storage and report generation for control system data.


6. Implements network modifications to improve control system performance and to adhere to District standards.


7. Implements control system network security procedures and ensures compliance with District policies.


8. Develops staff to prepare them to support PLC programming efforts, HMI programming efforts, and historical data-related tasks.


9. Works with other groups to identify Maximo assets and locations and coordinates these assets with GIS.


10. Identifies the need for control systems software packages such as HMI software, PLC software, radio configuration software, network hardware configuration software, related software licenses, and service agreements and ensures installation of the correct software packages are installed on District employees’ computers.


11. Provides input into standards development or standards modifications.

Position Minimum Experience

1. Must be proficient in programming Allen Bradley PLCs (RSLogix5000), Modicon PLCs (ProWorx 32, Concept, Modsoft), and Control Mirosystems PLCs (Telepace).

2. Must be proficient in configuring licensed and unlicensed MDS radio communication equipment.

3. Understanding of control system networks, network hardware, and network security.

4. Understanding of client/server architecture.

5. Moderate understanding of SQL Server.

6. Requires record keeping abilities and excellent organizational skills and exercises good judgment based upon established procedures

7. Minimum of 8 years PLC programming experience.

8. Requires a valid Texas Driver’s License.

9. Must have a high school diploma or GED.
