Position Description

Trinity River authority is looking for a full time engineer in Ferris, TX. This position involves professional level engineering work in the operations and maintenance function of the plant. Ensures current maintenance and operation procedures are adequate for the implementation of asset management programs, GIS programs or improvements to existing programs and infrastructures. Assists in the long-range planning for facilities development.

Position Salary

MIN $84,598, MID $112,798 commensurate with experience and skill set (includes an excellent benefit package with 24 days of PTO, employer paid health and life insurance, pension plan and more).

Position Minimum Experience

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree in engineering. Major preferred to be in fields related to wastewater or water industry.

EXPERIENCE
(minimum years and types of related experience required)
Four years of experience in a related field or two years of experience in a treatment plant.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
(any specialized certifications licenses or registrations required by TRA or other authority in order to do the job, including those the incumbent must be able to obtain)
Valid Texas driver's license. Professional Engineer licensure required. Ability to obtain B water or wastewater license within 2 years.

KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of water/wastewater operations. Knowledge of CMMS, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS preferred as well as plant human machine interface (HMI) and process controls.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
(developed capability to use or apply knowledge effectively or dexterity/coordination in the performance of physical tasks)
Must be able to evaluate situations and analyze problems to make decisions necessary for corrective measures with little direction. May be called upon to make decisions regarding emergency situations at all hours.

Scope of Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Evaluates and audits systems to ensure relevant asset maintenance data is being collected and helps with facilitating corrective actions.

2. Designs modifications to existing systems and develops specifications for equipment purchases, assisting in long-range planning for facilities development.

3. Maintains site CAD files that are used for project construction as well as prepares machine drawings using AutoCAD for part manufacturing, collects GPS information for in-house record documents and site CAD file and assists with development and maintenance of site GIS map.

4. Coordinates activities, meetings, and communication and capital projects between: Authority plant departments, Northern Region staff (including Construction Management Services), and consultant engineers, thereby ensuring that plant staff input is timely and technically based. This will also require maintaining records and written correspondence. Reviews all plant improvements to coordinate treatment process changes. Recommends strategic treatment plant process improvements.

5. Participates in the development and review of plans and specifications for plant equipment and controls expansion or improvements. Reviews and contributes to development of civil or process control system (PCS) guidelines through participation in the Civil or PCS Guidelines Committee. Maintains and distributes project and asset record documents including record drawings and O&Ms.

6. Maintains levee and documents activities related to its protection and integrity.

7. May assist with the management and/or data collection for process models/schematic for the Plant or pipelines.

8. Monitor legislation, UCMR and other rules impacting water treatment.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position does not regularly provide work leadership or full personnel management to any employees.

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Calculates and recommends maintenance activities and associated budgets for both O&M budget and capital budget (rehabilitation project).
