Uncertainty over whether the Supreme Court will in fact hear arguments over Maui’s effluent discharge. A vote by the City Council to settle the lawsuit awaits final approval from the mayor. Settlement advocates would prefer Maui begin to seek NPDES permitting for their treated effluent.

The City of West Orange, Texas is the recipient of a $5 million loan from the US Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration. The federal funds will be matched with $1.25 million from local authorities, and will fund the construction of a new municipal wastewater treatment plant.

The City of Pearland is expanding their Barry Rose Water Reclamation Facility, and has chosen Stantec to lead the design process for the $90 million project. Barry Rose WRF will see an increase in capacity from three MGD to eight, and will allow the city to close their Longwood WRF, which sits in a floodplain and was completely submerged during Hurricane Harvey.
