Austin Water’s Walnut Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant is undergoing a $1.5 billion expansion, upgrade, enhancement, and rehabilitation program that will increase treatment capacity, implement Biological Nutrient Removal, improve headworks and influent lift station infrastructure, and rehabilitate aging primary clarifiers and flow equalization basins. This session will explore how Austin Water, consultants, and two Construction Manager at Risk teams are coordinating four interconnected Capital Improvement Projects on one active wastewater treatment plant site, including construction sequencing, maintenance of plant operations, value engineering, VDC, SUE, partnering, and executive-level coordination.
