Stop Me if You've Heard this One Before: It's Always a Water Session in Texas
Presented By:
Julie Nahrgang
They say that Texas is the land of perpetual drought interrupted only by flooding of biblical proportions. The 89th Texas Legislative Session has taken this description seriously and is working to pass a Texas-sized investment in water, wastewater, and flood infrastructure funding and water supply expansion. This investment is pointed at a one-time injection in the Texas Water Fund as well as dedicated annual funding. The Texas Legislature is also hearing bills that would create a de facto ban on biosolids land application, fund a PFAS study, more tightly regulate nurdles, and prohibit discharges over a certain phosphorus limit into certain river segments. From the onset, the 140 days of the 89th Texas Legislative Session promised to be one for the water record books. The presentation will focus on key water and wastewater legislation and how it will practically impact the water industry in Texas.\
