Operator Training Week: Fats, Oils, & Grease

FOG

This session provides a practical overview of fats, oils, and grease (FOG) and how it impacts wastewater collection systems and treatment plants. Participants will learn about common FOG sources, how excessive discharges lead to sewer blockages and overflows, and how FOG can damage lift stations, manholes, wet wells, and treatment processes—ultimately affecting TPDES compliance.

The training will also cover effective prevention and control strategies, Texas reporting requirements for unauthorized discharges, and best practices for sewer line cleaning to minimize slug loads and maintain regulatory compliance.
