In a bipartisan effort, $163.6M has been allotted to boost water infrastructure in the Rio Grande Valley. The Texas Water Development Board matched funding from the North American Development Bank, the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, and local irrigation districts, which will help efforts to capture "millions of gallons of water currently lost to leaks and seepage across the RGV."
Amazon has launched a new initiative called the Colorado River Basin Collaborative (CRBC), pledging $20M towards water conservation efforts for those who rely on the Colorado River. Speaking on the CRBC, Kara Hurst, Amazon's chief sustainability officer, states, "What sets this apart is quick action—starting now through 2028, the coalition will deploy funding into projects that are already vetted and ready to go."
